How It Works

A pay raise increases your gross earnings either through a percentage increase or a fixed sum added to your current pay rate.

New Salary = Current Salary × (1 + (Percentage ÷ 100))

For example, if your current wage is $15.00/hour ($31,200 annual) and you receive a 10% raise, your wage increases by $1.50 to $16.50/hour, bringing your new annual compensation to $34,320—an additional $3,120 per year before taxes.

All calculations display gross earnings before taxes and retirement contributions.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a standard annual pay raise?
A typical annual cost-of-living raise is between 3% and 5%. Promotion raises or strong performance merit increases commonly range from 7% to 15% or higher.
How do you calculate a percentage raise?
Multiply your current pay by the raise percentage divided by 100 to get the increase, then add that to your current pay. For example, a 10% raise on $50,000 is $5,000, bringing your new salary to $55,000.
What is the difference between a merit raise and a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA)?
A cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) offsets inflation and is given broadly across employees. A merit raise rewards individual achievement, exceeding performance benchmarks, or taking on greater responsibilities.
Which currencies are supported?
We support 6 currencies: US Dollar ($), Euro (€), British Pound (£), Canadian Dollar (C$), Indian Rupee (₹), and Japanese Yen (¥). Currency switching is instant and updates all calculations and reference tables in real time.
