How It Works

Time and a half is standard overtime pay equal to 1.5 times an employee's regular hourly wage rate. Under federal and regional labor laws, non-exempt hourly employees qualify for time and a half after working 40 hours in a single standard workweek.

Time and a Half Rate = Base Hourly Rate × 1.5

For example, if your base pay is $15.00/hour, your time and a half rate is $22.50/hour. Working 40 base hours ($600) plus 5 overtime hours at $22.50 ($112.50) yields a weekly gross pay of $712.50.

All calculations display gross earnings before taxes, healthcare, or retirement deductions are applied.

What does time and a half mean?

How do you calculate time and a half pay?
Multiply your regular hourly rate by 1.5 to get your overtime rate, then multiply that overtime rate by the number of overtime hours worked.
